The following is with respect to each and everybody that is reading this and has a different belief and/or understanding and it is not in any form or fashion my intent to offend the reader.
The Prison System has allowed its prisoners the opportunity to practice their religious beliefs to a certain extent. This has helped many people in prison both male and female, but like most everything else, the person wanting the change must take that step.
I have come to the understanding that the Prison System must try to have a little bit of everything because of the differences that the inmates believe in, of course nothing of evil is permitted.
Once again, with respect to every other persons belief and/or religious practice I would like to point out that my belief is as follows:
There is One God, eternally existent in three persons; God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. [Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19].
The Bible is the inspired and infallible and authoritative written Word of God. [2 Timothy 3:16].
The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ. [John 14:6].
In water baptism by immersion. [Matthew 28:19; Matthew 3:16].
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. [Titus 3:5].
The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. [1 Peter 2:24].
The baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to "Acts 2:4" is given to believers who ask for it.
In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Holy life. [Galatians 5:16-25].
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death,in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years. [John 1:1; Revelation 20:2].
In the blessed hope-the rapture of the Church at Christ's coming.
In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. [Revelation 20:11-15].
What I have mentioned about my belief is only in part, but it is to more or less clear the road of where I stand in this topic, because I cannot say who is right and who is wrong in their belief and /or practice. Who are we to judge by right and/or authority here on earth the next person's belief? I would like to say that I feel safe in allowing the right and authority to our Lord on judgement day~~Amen.
Many years ago in my youth I always made fun of inmates who carried their Bibles and went to Church at county jails and in prison. I really thought they were weak. Sure as a kid I was taken to Church and so I always knew about God and His Son and the Holy Spirit, etc., but that was not the road I wanted at that time. As the years pass me by and I lived a life of misery, hopeless, unacceptable to a free society, the full experience of the meaning Negative! I finally seen what life I was living, where it was leading, and it all hit me when I was at the lowest in my life here in prison. It was in 1993 that I made the decision to start reading the Bible and then accepting the Lord as my personal Savior into my life. I come from a disfunctional family and in 1994, the Lord brought the Johnson family [a Christian Functional family] into my life. Do know that I have experienced the difference between both families in my life and I have thanked God for this as I know He has a purpose for everything in each of our lives. He even gave me new friends who are Christians and those who want positive things in their lives and are there to help you- if you want to help yourself.
Yes, He does have His own purpose and I want each of you readers to know that I come to the understanding that if you have not accept Christ into your life because of your sins then know that God does not care what you have done in this life. Seriously, think about it for what it's worth to you to make the change. Some of you might already have accepted Him but still need someone to lean on in your times of troubles because we forget that He's there for us. Let me say that there are people that have committed some of the worse crimes in this world who have accepted Christ and are now living a much easier life even though they are still doing time. The time has to be done so that we can pay society back for violating the law, but in God's own timing He has released and will continue to release many people who should never have been released but it is because of their sincere change while in prison.
There are many people on the outside Christians and non-Christians alike who are in a prison within their own homes and/or families. They do not have to physically be confined in a state and/or federal institution to build their own prisons and they really never stop to think about this and try to understand their situation.
There are male/females that have been abused [abuse does not have to be physical harm], who when telling someone of what has or is happening to them, they are not believed and many of them will build their own prisons, while others will never tell anyone about their abuse and they too build their own prisons. These prisons in many way causes negative actions and/or responses towards others and those others might just be their own friends, husbands/wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, children or close relatives. But Christ can release them. He will hear you when you feel nobody else will, and He will give you an answer in His own ways and time. He will provide strength to carry on and give you comfort, you can find encouragement and the freedom to live better.
If you are a Christian and are not getting answers to your prayers. Maybe you need to do some soul searching and get something out of the way, it might be the forgiveness of somebody, but only you and God know. All in all God is good! His path is righteous, personally I have never lived happier than what I am living now with Christ in my life, sure I am still in prison [physically] but everything else within me is free.
We are allowed about 1-1/2 hours per week [Church services] and mostly all practices are on different days because due to the budget cut that the State of Texas and its prison system have suffered we now only have one Chaplain and he is to try to work with each and everybody on the unit.
In closing, do know that what I have written is just a small thought to get some of you started thinking on your own and maybe do something in your life not just for yourself but for someone else. Thinking about this reminds me of Luke 15:10; "In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." And in the same way we can find joy when we go soul searching within ourselves to find what is stopping God for us from receiving God's answer to our prayers. God bless each and everyone of you and may God's grace and mercy bring you all peace of mind and comfort, may His love flow from within you!
In His Mercy, Grace and Love;
